LAP Program Guidelines

2010-2011

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Perth, Western Australia in collaboration with the Department of Education of Western Australia and Westralian Indonesian Language Teachers’ Association (WILTA) are seeking participants in the 2011 Indonesian Language Assistant Program in Western Australia.

The program will be held for a year, from January to December 2011. During the program, participants will teach Indonesian language, promoting the Indonesian language teaching and learning program in Western Australia while serving as goodwill ambassadors to introduce Indonesian culture to enhance bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia. The participants will receive an allowance to the amount of AUD $988.00 fortnightly.

II General Requirements

  1. Applicants must be under the age of 31 years as of 31 December 2009 due to Australian Immigration Special Program Visa requirement.
  2. An application letter written in English .
  3. Fill in the application form (downloadable from WILTA Website: www.kri-perth.org.au or www.wilta.org )
  4. Hold a bachelors degree majoring in the teaching of Indonesian language or English language .
  5. A letter of recommendation from the immediate supervisor.
  6. Good written and oral English ability (proven by IELTS score of at least 6.5 or its TOEFL equivalent).
  7. A short essay in English of at least 500 words on applicant’s motivation or expression of interest to take part in the LAP program and the personal attributes and talents they have.
  8. The successful participants in the first round will be required to take the medical examination at an appointed institution.
  9. Upon acceptance, participants must be willing and ready to be posted to any location within the state of Western Australia.
  10. Upon acceptance, participants are required to arrange their own travel documents (passport and visa), return ticket to Perth, health insurance and other necessary expenses that may occur.
  11. Upon acceptance, participants will require a letter from a guarantor in Indonesia stating that they will cover the cost of returning the applicant to Indonesia in an emergency.

III. Please attach the following documents to your application

  1. Two photographs, size 3 x 4 cm
  2. Recommendation letter from the immediate supervisor
  3. A copy of IELTS or TOEFL certificate.
  4. A copy of education certificate and transcript .
  5. A short essay (min 500 words) about the motivation or expression of interest to take part in the LAP program.
  6. Statement Letter that the applicant is willing to not bring his/her family member to Australia during the program.
  7. Statement Letter that the applicant is willing to pay for all of their expenses relating to LAP program.
  8. Statement Letter that the applicant is willing to be posted at any location within the state of Western Australia.
  9. Criminal record check from Indonesian Police Department
