The 17th Biennial Australian Federation of Modern Language Teachers Association (AFMLTA) was held in Sydney on 09-12 July at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. WILTA members were well represented, with many also attending the ASILE conference a few days later. Over 400 language teachers attended this conference, from a range of languages and locales (even from as far away as Finland!). The AFMLTA Conference is certainly one of the largest in Australia for the language teaching profession, and is always a fantastic opportunity to network with other teachers and attend professional development sessions of a high standard.

Penny Coutas, Sue Cooper, Laura Lochore and other WILTA members live blogged during the conference. You can see the "recordings" below.
The next AFMLTA Conference will be held in Darwin in 2011 - watch the WILTA website for updates.
