Join the WILTA Committee 2018

Would you like to contribute to WILTA and give something back to the Indonesian language students, teachers and community? Would you like to have a say in what WILTA are doing? If yes, then please consider volunteering to help out with the WILTA Committee in 2018. Many hands make light work!

At the AGM on November 4th (registrations open), all committee positions will be open for nomination.
We highly recommend members that have never done so, at least join as General Committee Members, so they can become familiar with what we do!

Roles for the 2018 committee are as follows:
OFFICERS
President:
  • Chairs meetings
  • Represents WILTA at functions or delegates as required
  • Acts as the spokesperson for WILTA
  • Responds to and passes on relevant information to membership
  • Liaises with Officers and Titular Roles
 
Vice-President:
  • Attends meetings
  • Assists the President and substitutes when necessary
  • Assists Titular Roles with their duties
 
Treasurer:
  • Attends meetings
  • Manages WILTA’s financial activities
  • Maintains WILTA’s financial records and prepares them for audit
  • Presents financial reports for meetings
  • Manages workshop payments
  • Assists Titular Roles with their duties
 
Secretary:
  • Attends and takes minutes of meetings
  • Handles some correspondence
  • Manages and maintains files
  • Assists Titular Roles with their duties
 
TITULAR ROLES
Community Relations Coordinator
  • Attends meetings
  • Promotes Indonesian language learning to general community including schools and principals
  • Updates WILTA social media
  • Maintains list of schools that teach Indonesian
 
Competition Coordinator
  • Attends meetings
  • Advertises, promotes and coordinates WILTA student competitions, in collaboration with the Committee
  • Liaises with the Indonesian Consulate-General to arrange prizes and award ceremonies
  • Publishes student competition entries
 
Professional Development Coordinator
  • Attends meetings
  • Arranges and liaises with professional learning presenters for WILTA workshops
  • Arranges venues for workshops
  • Delegates tasks for workshops to committee members, e.g. organising lunch, morning tea, photographer, etc.
Warta WILTA Editor
  • Attends meetings
  • Advertises to the WILTA membership for content, suggesting themes or topics
  • Coordinates the production of Warta WILTA and compiles content
  • Publishes Warta WILTA to the membership
 
WILTA Website Manager
  • Attends meetings
  • Maintains the WILTA website as the public face of WILTA, adding and amending information as required
  • Maintains the membership list
 
Reciprocal Teacher Visitor Coordinator
  • Attends meetings
  • Advertises the RTV (email, website, Warta WILTA) coordinates requests to host and sets up an itinerary for the IALF teacher
  • Liaises with the IALF in Bali (Ibu Luh Sriasih) for the RTV to WA and the RTV to Bali
  • Coordinates the RTV to Bali and liaises with the committee to select a participant.
 
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS
General (Maximum of 6)
  • Attend meetings.
  • May take on specific roles such as MLTAWA Representative, BBIP Representative, etc.
  • May take on specific tasks such as tea/coffee, photography, etc.
 
 
The following roles will also be filled from within the committee (not elected separately):
  • MLTAWA Representative
  • BBIP Representative
  • Assistant Professional Development Coordinator
  • Assistant Competition Coordinator

Workshop 3 - How Do You Teach X? and AGM will be held on Saturday November 4th at SIDE, Leederville (end of Week 4, Term 4) with the schedule as follows: (Please note: The AGM is scheduled in November instead of October as per constitution to avoid a clash with Year 12 exams and the AFMLTA Ready, Set, Assess workshop).
