Makmur the Becak
Host a Becak at your school!

PictureMakmur at Bertram Primary School 2018
This is your chance to host one of Indonesia’s iconic traditional forms of transport at your school and help to spark interest in Indonesia and its culture! WILTA is pleased to offer a becak on loan to members’ schools for a period of 6 months (to agreed period), and according to conditions as set out below. It is available for free, and frequently makes the rounds around Western Australia.

The conditions of borrowing the becak are:
  • The borrowing teacher needs to be a current member of WILTA.
  • The borrowing teacher or school must provide means of transporting the becak (you will probably need a trailer)
  • The becak must be stored in a safe, secured, dry place i.e. (it needs to be housed undercover)
  • The becak will not be ridden on public roads, because it is not licensed.
  • The becak may be ridden at school as long as the tyres are pumped up beforehand and under strict supervision.
  •  Your school must have appropriate insurance in the case of accident with the becak and/or injury to student(s).
  • The becak must be protected from damage and misuse.
  • If the teacher has means or ability to assist in maintenance (ie. updating wheels, oiling breaks, pumping tyres), please do so.
  • The borrowing teacher must write a short blurb and a photo about what used the becak for the Warta Wilta. Please email wartawilta@wilta.org

If you are interested, please fill in the Expressions of Interest form below.
