Kompetisi klip klip

Kompetisi Klip-Klip 2023 is now open! While you are resting this holidays, I am
hopeful that you may be thinking of ways that you can incorporate basic videos
into your Term 3 curriculum.  Past videos have included students cooking, doing
science experiments, role playing police interrogations, making sports
instructional videos, using puppets and even gardening.

The aim of the competition remains promoting and engaging students in
authentic, spontaneous language use and meaningful communication within the
context of the regular curriculum.  The competition categories and prize format
remain the same as last year (Percakapan, Bagaimana Caranya and Wildcard in One
Shot).

Categories

1. Percakapan/Wawancara
This should be a natural conversation on a familiar topic, with the focus on
sustaining a conversation rather than 100% accuracy.
 Editing should be kept to a minimum and this will be considered as part of
the judging criteria (i.e. students who do their performance in one shot will
typically be judged higher than students who use a number of edited clips).
 A puppet show could be an appealing option for many students as it may
allow a student to enter without a partner; however, for eligibility in this
category it should be clear that students are speaking, not reading from a
script.
 Maximum length: 5 minutes

 2. Bagaimana caranya?
A video tutorial on how to do something.
Examples include how to cook something, make something, play a sport,
understand Australian slang, conduct a science experiment, how to stay healthy, or
a makeup tutorial.
 This may be conducted by an individual or a small group.
 The emphasis is on the ability to communicate rather than accuracy. The
number of shots should be kept to a minimum.
 Maximum length: 5 minutes

3. Wild card - one shot.
A five minute video filmed in one shot (i.e. no editing of shots together) on any
topic -  apa saja.
 This could be any appropriate form of video, but must use spoken
Indonesian (singing/rapping is considered spoken language)
 As for the other categories, the judging criteria prioritises the ability to
sustain natural and/or spontaneous use of language.
 Maximum length: 5 minutes.

Judging

All videos will be judged by a judging panel according to the following criteria:
 Language deployment ie spoken spontaneously and naturally
 Sustained interaction in the target language - a video in just one or two
shots will achieve a higher score than a heavily edited video as the focus is

on language rather than video production. n.b. videos in the Wild Card
category will only be eligible if they are shot in a single take.
 Fluency ie. the ability to maintain a flow, even if it requires use of repair
strategies.
 Pronunciation and intonation
 Creativity

Due Date
Each school may submit up to two videos for each category for each age
group. Schools are encouraged to have their own vetting process prior to
submission and are responsible for ensuring the rules of the competition are
adhered to.
Submissions must be received by 4pm on Monday, 25 September 2023.
