Kabar Baru
our new committee has been elected. Selamat datang (kembali for some!) dan terima kasih kepada:
At the AGM, Ibu Presiden made the very concerning point that WILTA is one of only three remaining state Indonesian Language Teacher associations in Australia, and due to low numbers, could very easily follow. There are still a couple of committee positions left, so please, if you can contribute, do. If not, ideas, requests and feedback are always welcome via form.
Dari Koordinator Kompetisi Klip2Kepada Anggota WILTA yang terhormat, As the Competitions Coordinator, I want to thank you for your support for what has been another successful Kompetisi Klip-Klip in 2021. We had 30 entries from 9 different Schools and have awarded 7 cash prizes. The improved spontaneous nature of many of the videos and good participation rate demonstrates that members understand the purpose of the competition:
If your School has a winning student, I will be in touch next week regarding prize money transfers. I look forward to seeing an even bigger competition in 2022 Salam hangat, Grant Porteus WILTA Competition Coordinator
Due to Covid-related funding setbacks, we've been a little late in being able to launch our annual Kompetisi Klip-2 video competition. The good news is - we're ready to go! The aim of the competition remains promoting and engaging students in authentic, spontaneous language use and meaningful communication within the context of the regular curriculum. As previously highlighted, competition categories remain the same (Percakapan, Bagaimana Caranya and Wildcard in One Shot) so hopefully many members will have videos ready to go already! Despite the devastating impact of COVID-19 in Indonesia, the Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia has once again stepped forward to offer WILTA financial support in order to run this event, albeit with more realistic but still very attractive prize money. Zoom chatWILTA is hosting Zoom session on the evening of Tuesday 17th August from 7-8pm via Zoom to share ideas, ask questions and put your feet up after a hard but inspiring day celebrating Indonesian Independence Day. BYO drink and nibbles. We are looking at offering Zoom get-togethers as potentially a regular event, so if you'd like to join us in these, please fill in your details here. 2021 Kompetisi Klip-Klip changes
A big thank you to everyone who attended our long table lunch on Saturday, 26th June at Tempayan restaurant. It was lovely to see many new faces and to have the opportunity to meet and listen to the wonderful and inspirational Robbie Gaspar. It also gave us a chance to socialise, network and enjoy a delicious Indonesian meal with one another.
Robbie spoke of his amazing experiences living and working in Indonesia, including his career as a professional footballer, his passion for the country, as well as learning Indonesian. He shared many ideas on how to use sport as a hook to engage students with the language and the importance of fostering strong relationships between Australia and Indonesia. I think everyone walked away with a new perspective and some effective strategies to encourage student engagement. Tempayan restaurant provided a wonderfully authentic ambience, and the room was abuzz with conversation and laughter. Thanks again for your attendance and we look forward to seeing you at our next event. Salam hangat, Marlee McAdam PL Coordinator |
